Making top sirloin steak is so easy on the grill and this post will show how to make it! This Summer will be the year I master grilling different types of meats. Thought I'd start off with a quick how to grill top sirloin steak post. I like my steaks petite size, just like me. (I'm 5'4") If you handed me a huge piece of steak that was larger than 6 oz I wouldn't be able to eat it all.

Ingredients Needed
- Petite top sirloin steak - (1 to 1 /2 in thick) - sometimes these will come wrapped in bacon and sometimes they will not.
- Melted butter - you can also make a garlic butter sauce to brush over the steak, olive oil will also work
- Salt and pepper - to taste

How to Grill Top Sirloin Steak
Step 1: Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat and lightly oil the grate.
Step 2: Season both sides of each steak with salt and pepper.
Step 3: Place steaks on preheated grill and cook 5 to 7 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) for medium doneness.
Step 4: Transfer steaks to warmed plates; brush the tops liberally with melted butter (option and allow to rest for 2 to 3 minutes before serving.
Tips for Grilling the Perfect Top Sirloin
When looking for a steak at the supermarket or butcher shop look for one that is 1 to 1 ½ inches thick, has a bright red color, and some marble to it. The marble in the steak is the fat and that will give you a lot of flavor and tenderness.
Leave the steak out for 30 minutes before grilling so that it comes to room temperature.
To test if the steak is done, with the steak with your fingers for medium rare the steak should feel spongy in texture.
What to serve with Top Sirloin Steak
For a vegetable try top sirloin steak with grilled corn the cob and smoked potatoes on my Traeger on the side. The smoked potatoes will take a little longer to cook.
I love serving potatoes with my steak in any form possible. Make Air Fryer Twice Baked Potato or my Aunt Carol's Potato Salad.

Best Grilling Tips
- Always Start with a clean grill. Make sure last nights dinner isn’t stuck on it. 😉
- Get any type of meat thermometer. This will help to check for proper doneness and to make sure the meat is at the proper temperature.
- Grilling is done at very high heat to cook food faster. Smokers are used for low and slow cooking.
- Know when to use direct heat.
- The best outdoor type grills are Webber or Blackstone. Blackstone are a flat top cooking service that don’t have any grates in them.

For a perfect medium rare top sirloin steak cook the steak for 10 - 12 minutes and flip the steak half way through the cooking time.
Top sirloin grills fast at a high heat and it is definitely a good grilling steak a long with ribeye. Those two both take about the same amount of time to cook depending on the thickness.
Always store leftovers in clean, food-grade containers. The type of container doesn’t really matter. Use zip lock, glass, and plastic containers.

Every time I grill steaks ( and I love med rare) after I let them rest for 10 mins I still end up with a plate full of juices. How can I fix this? Its making me crazy !!
